Turkey Sweet Potato Chili

Enjoy a simple, yet tasty chili on a cold day!  I love sweet potatoes and avocado in pretty much anything! Give it a try for a family pleaser.

  • 16oz 93% lean ground turkey
  • ½ cup onion (I use frozen chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 10oz can tomato with green chilies
  • 10can diced tomato
  • 8oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 can white beans, drained & rinsed
  • 4oz mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and diced
  • Optional: Top with Avocado and/or shredded cheddar cheese

In large skillet brown the turkey and break into smaller pieces. Add onion & garlic & cook for 2-3 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer on medium heat about 25-30 mins or until potatoes are soft.  (I also like to do this in the crock pot after the turkey is browned.)
