When it’s cold outside, a glass of ice water doesn’t have much appeal. A warm drink? Much better.
Winter hydration can be easy to overlook, especially when you’re busy and don’t feel as thirsty. Here are a few simple ways to keep fluids part of your day.
1. Drink something warm
One thing I personally love in the winter is hot hibiscus tea. It keeps me warm, has a fruity, slightly tart flavor, and gives me another way to get fluids in.
Hibiscus also contains antioxidants—a nice bonus. And yes, tea counts toward your daily hydration.
Keep it simple: Put your tea bags next to your favorite mug so they’re ready when you want an afternoon warm-up.
2. Find a flavor you enjoy
I include electrolytes in my daily routine. For me, having something I enjoy drinking makes it easier to stay consistent.
A few of my favorites, depending on your taste:
-
Ultima: My pick if you don’t like a salty taste.
-
LMNT: A good option if you enjoy salty flavors.
-
Inspire Wellness Daily Strength Aminos™ in Peach Mango: My choice if you like something sweet, with essential amino acids plus electrolytes.
You don’t have to use electrolytes every day to stay hydrated. Plain water with a squeeze of lemon works too!
3. Keep your water where you can see it
Try keeping a glass or bottle next to your computer, in the car, or wherever you spend your day.
Keep it simple: Pair a few sips with something you already do, like eating a meal, driving in the car (I like to do it at stop lights) or while sitting down to watch a show.
4. Let food help, too
Soup, fruit, and vegetables contribute to your fluid intake. A warm bowl of soup is an easy winter option when another glass of water doesn’t sound good.
Start with one easy habit: a warm mug of tea, water with lunch, or a flavor you look forward to drinking.
