Move Your Body!

Move Your Body!

Our bodies are meant to move! I am sure you've heard sitting is the new smoking.

We live in a very sedentary lifestyle. Sitting all day at our desks, entertaining ourselves on our phones, TVs and laptops, driving everywhere we need to go.

Daily movement is key. I HIGHLY suggest being intentional with a time to exercise, but also trying to incorporate more movement into your routine.

Our bodies are meant to move. Movement will help your body in many ways! It helps both your physical and mental health. It helps boost your mood, control stress, naturally energizes you, prevent diseases, manage blood sugar, improves brain health, improves sleep, prevent aches/pains and controls your weight!

Strength training in particular is key for getting stronger, improving muscle tone, improving bone health and burning fat. It is especially important as we age as our body naturally decreases muscle mass & bone density.

Any Movement is Better than No Movement

Tips:

  • Think of ways you can move more throughout the day. For example: park farther away from your destination, take the stairs, walk on your lunch break or after dinner.

  • Get up early to exercise. It is the perfect way to jump start your day!

  • Recruit a friend to join you. You get your social time and exercise done together! Win-Win!

  • Wear a trackable device and aim for 10,000 steps/day.

  • Find activities you enjoy! You are more likely to stick with it when you enjoy it.

  • Go for a daily walk. This is the perfect way to de-stress, catch up with a friend, listen to a podcast etc.

  • Find a group fitness class you enjoy or a workout buddy. It makes it more fun and pushes you to work harder.

  • There are many videos online you can find that are free and easy to do from your home.
